Even though there are over 500 vehicles currently at the Detroit Auto Show there is one that most definitely commands more attention than the rest; the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray.
 
The latest news surrounding the car is that the first was sold at auction to NASCAR team owner Richard Hendrick for $1.1 million. The auction, in Scottsdale, Arizona, benefited the College for Creative Studies in Detroit who boosts a prominent auto design program, (First 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray auctions for $1.1 million to NASCAR team owner, Michael Wayland, Mlive.com, http://www.mlive.com/auto/index.ssf/2013/01/first_2014_chevy_corvette_stin_1.html#incart_river).
 
The very first Corvette was originally built in Flint, Michigan in 1953. The Stingray was later built in 1963 and was known for its distinctive tapering at the rear of the car. The term “Stingray” has not been incorporated in a Chevy vehicle name since the generation 3 of the Corvette manufactured from 1968-82 in Detroit.
