Detroit Auto Show Opens; Cadillac with the Win

The Detroit Auto Show opened this weekend with a bang, and Cadillac goes home with the win, of both North American Car & Truck of the Year.
 
Automotive journalists, 49 to be exact, named the Cadillac ATS sports sedan as the North American car year and the Cadillac Ram 1500 pickup truck as the truck of the North American truck of the year. All new models were considered and eventually reduced to six finalists.
 
The ATS is built in Lansing which makes “this a very meaningful honor for the entire Cadillac team,” stated Bob Ferguson, GM vice president, global Cadillac, (Detroit Auto Show: Cadillac ATS, Dodge Ram named car, truck of the year, Jerry Hirsch,http://www.latimes.com/business/autos/detroitautoshow/). With Ford and Chevrolet typically dominating the truck industry, winning the truck of the year award was huge for Cadillac, “for the Ram truck brand, this ranks as one of the proudest days in our history. Every truck maker aspires to win the North American Truck/Utility of the year,” stated Fred Diaz, chief executive of the Ram truck brand, (Detroit Auto Show: Cadillac ATS, Dodge Ram named car, truck of the year, Jerry Hirsch,).
