As the hope for a prosperous economy continues the auto industry reports it has seen a brighter future with a 20% sales increase this month compared to last year's.
Back in August 2011 12.26 million vehicles had been sold whereas come August of this year the total stands at 14.52 million. The reason for a 20% jump is linked to consumers who avoided buying a new car back in 2008 due to the financial crisis.
Those who have seen the biggest increase in sales have been Toyota and Honda. With two natural disasters cutting Japanese supply in 2011 both companies had a huge comeback with 188,520 vehicles sold, a 46% increase for Toyota, and 131,321, a 60% increase for Honda, (US auto sales jump 20 percent in August

Here in the U.S. Detroit's automakers Ford, GM, and Chrysler, reported double-digit increases due to their production of fuel-efficient vehicles.
